In search of forgotten ghosts, part II

We made it back to camp and fired up some ribs and ate like kings, what an epic day and adventure. The night was long and our next stop was going to be Cherry creek, a town with a rich past according to our pamphlet. The town is still inhabited and in my unmentioned, useless book, it had a photograph of three buildings that resembled something out of an old western. We were both excited to see it. I had props and a plan to do some milky way shots above the town. However, ole ma' nature had other plans. The rain started very early in the morning and gave us a slight reprieve long enough to make breakfast. Once on the road we took a quick ride around the park and headed back toward Ely, in route to Cherry creek.

In a picnic area on the way out we found more caves, this one was a little out of reach and we found one that was closed. They threatened stiff fines and jail time if you entered.

On the way out we found "Too Tall Tony"

     Next to Tony!

One of the many vistas seen on this trip.

A photograph I forgot to use on my previous post, this was back on the road from Hamilton on the way to Ely.

Just outside of Ely and near a large pit mine we found remnants of a burned out town.

After leaving Ely, we hit the town of McGill, a inhabited town with many residents. There are some very old building in town, however there are many "no trespassing" signs on many of them. Besides, we were still excited about Cherry creek.

Once we arrived in Cherry creek we drove around town and could not locate the buildings pictured in the book; I was heart broken! The town is full of old structures and most looked inhabited, however we did see one resident and from the look we received we did not feel welcome! This was the only interesting building we saw. The town has a museum, however it was closed.

Our last stop before an overnight in Wendover, was Stone house, a Pony express station according to our handy pamphlet. A great building, however this one had the dreaded "no trespassing" signs also.

Stone House is located along a dirt road that's great dry, but a pain wet. My wheel wells were loaded with mud when we made it back to the highway and Schellbourne, another Pony express stop, however this one was a little more modern. Here is a cool truck behind it.

Shellbourne, from the outside looks like there was a small casino at one point and had a small motel next door. Across the street, we saw this and it just fit the whole seen.

What an exciting, trip and amazing adventure. There are many more ghost towns in Nevada, however once again, I find myself out of time. I have a plan to visit Nevada again and see many more of these forgotten Ghosts!
